Smiley @ Emoticons? . :) , :D, :O

A smiley is a stylized representation of a smiling human face, commonly represented as a yellow (many other colors are also used) circle (or sphere) with two black dots representing eyes and a black half circle representing the mouth. “Smiley” is also sometimes used as a generic term for any emoticon.

While emoticon is a textual expression representing the face of a writer's mood or facial expression.

Smiley has been a registered trademark in some countries since 1971 when French journalist Franklin Loufrani created "Smiley World" to sell, advertise and license the smiley face image in the United Kingdom and Europe.

The first person documented to have used the emoticons :-) and :-(, with a specific suggestion that they be used to express emotion, was Scott Fahlman; the text of his original proposal, posted to the Carnegie Mellon University computer science general board on 19 September 1982 (11:44), was thought to have been lost, but was recovered twenty years later by Jeff Baird from old backup tapes.

Na'vi Language = Malay Language ?

Malay Language is in the world's 'highest-grossing film of all time' movie in 2009?

WOW!

Eg: ( Kaltxì. Ngaru lu fpom srak?(Na'vi) = Helo, awak apa khabar?(Malay) ) <-- Not even close!
Or this is Malay Language from other part in the world? Or this isn't a phrase which they took from Malay Language?

*Inhabitants of the Sci-Fi world Pandora in the movie Avatar, speak, as you might expect, a language alien to humans. Its creator, Dr. Paul Frommer, who sports a doctorate in linguistics, calls the language Na’vi. He recorded his creation for the actors to listen to on their iPods in preparation for roles in the film.

He and the actors worked together with dialect coach Carla Meyer. While on the set, Frommer’s role was to help the actors with pronunciation and coach them between takes. If the situation called for new dialog, Frommer had to construct it on the spot. Commissioned by Director James Cameron, the language was designed to be appealingly pleasant to the ear, with a consistent sound system, morphology, orthography, and syntax.

Composer James Horner faced the challenge of integrating the new language into his soundtrack for the movie. Not only did the actors need to learn Na’vi, but the singers had to perfect the pronunciations too. Learning Na’vi for real, and not just by rote, means learning grammar – remember those grammatical diagrams in high school? This is a noun; this is the properly conjugated verb; this is an adjective. During one impromptu situation, Frommer had to come up with two adjectives, "big" and "blue," and one new noun "butt," so the character Jake could explain what had happened to his. All in all, Frommer came up with around 1,000 words for his new language.

No one outside of Avatar is speaking Na’vi yet, but Frommer has hopes that like the guttural Klingon, constructed for Star Trek, the melodious Na’vi might take on a life of its own outside the theater. He describes Klingon, invented by another linguist, Marc Okrand, as the "gold standard for this alien language niche." He commented on the earlier alien language in an NPR interview: "Klingon is an incredible language. It's a difficult language … There's a translation of "Hamlet" into Klingon. So if Na'vi ever achieved anything close to that I'd be absolutely delighted." Frommer is quite familiar with Klingon, he included an exercise in deciphering it in a linguistics workbook.

In developing Na’vi, Dr. Frommer drew from his knowledge of various languages, including that of the country of Malaysia, Malay. However, he points out that his invention is "very eclectic, so it has a grammatical system which is found in some languages, and it has certain sound elements that are found in other languages, but it does not follow any one particular language." He went into greater explanation of the sounds involved in the speech during an interview with Vanity Fair. He said that he "added a little spice to the language" called ‘ejectives’ that are popping sounds like ‘tx-ooo,’ and ‘tx-aaa’.’’ Ejectives are in several languages, including Native American and African.

Dr. Frommer spent four years piecing his invention together for the movie, and has continued the work for the Avatar video game for Ubisoft. When asked for an example of Na’vi, Frommer provided: "Kaltxì. Ngaru lu fpom srak?" which he translates literally as "Greetings. Do you have a sense of well-being?" or as you and I would say, "Hello, how are you?" Another phrase noted in TIMES Online is my favorite: Fìskxawngìri tsap’alute sengi oe, which they translate as "I apologize for this moron."

Language, 3D graphics, tall blue aliens, and totally cool aircraft all are shaping up to what Cameron hopes will be a blockbuster. Avatar opens December 18, or December 17, if you live on European continent. *

These BLUE creature was released in Malaysia on December 18, 2009.

* Will Malay Language become a 'lingua franca' again? Nooo, I doubt it. Hopefully.

Handcuffs? Police or Foreplay? *winkwink*

Hiatt type 2010 handcuffs. Circa 1990s
Have you ever wondered what handcuffs are made of and for? I know I do. For who that do not know what's handcuffs, handcuffs are restraint devices designed to secure an individual's wrists close together. They comprise two parts, linked together by a chain, a hinge or in the case of rigid cuffs, a bar. Each half has a rotating arm which engages with a ratchet that prevents it from being opened once closed around a person's wrist. Without the key, the handcuffs cannot be unlocked and so the restrained person is unable to move their wrists more than a few centimetres/inches apart, making many tasks difficult or impossible. This is usually done to prevent suspected criminals from escaping police custody.

There are two distinct subtypes of contemporary metal handcuffs: one in which the cuffs are held together by a short chain, and another, of more recent origin, which uses a hinge for this purpose. A third type, the rigid handcuff, has a metal block or bar between the cuffs. Handcuffs may be manufactured from various metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium, or from synthetic polymers.
Since handcuffs are only intended as temporary restraints, they are not the most complicated of locks. This is why escaping from handcuffs is a common stunt performed by magicians or skilled criminals, perhaps most famously Harry Houdini.

There are ways of escaping from handcuffs:

1.slipping hands out
2.lock picking
3.releasing the pawl with a shim
4.or simply opening the handcuffs with a duplicate key, often hidden on the body of the performer before the performance.

Other than to prevent suspected criminals from escaping police custody, handcuffs are also commonly used for foreplay purposes.
Kinky-type of handcuffs

Handcuffs are used in sex for foreplay. Partners are tied to each corners of bed with handcuffs on their hands and feets. The other partners then, will perform any act that creates and enhances sexual stimulation between the sex partners may constitute foreplay, including kissing, touching, embracing, talking, and teasing (teasing, in this case, may include methods of satisfaction, such as erotic sexual denial).

I won't go any further on this one. You may get more info HERE (foreplay) or HERE (handcuffs).

You'll get drunk when you drink beer.? Are you sure? The 'VIRGIN' beer.

Beer is the world's oldest and most widely consumed alcoholic beverage and the third most popular drink overall after water and tea.

The basic ingredients of beer are water; a starch source, such as malted barley, able to be fermented (converted into alcohol); a brewer's yeast to produce the fermentation; and a flavouring such as hops.

Beer is categorised into two main types based on the temperature of the brewing which influences the behaviour of yeast used during the brewing process—lagers, which are brewed at a low temperature, and the more regionally distinct ales, brewed at a higher temperature. Ales are further categorised into other varieties such as pale ale, stout and brown ale.

Beer is largely consumed during festivals, parties, events or just when hanging out with friends or watching games ; fun times.

Islam prohibits the consumption of intoxicants in any quantities. However, there is disagreement among the scholars of Islam about the consumption of non-alcoholic beer.

Low-alcohol beer (also called non-alcoholic or NA beer, small beer, small ale, or near-beer) is beer with very low or no alcohol content. Most low-alcohol beers are lagers, but there are some low-alcohol ales.
There are few types of these beer which is made from Islamic countries. For instance, Almaza Brewery, from Lebanon and Al Ahram Brewery, from Egypt.

Is this one of the ways of 'them' trying to mislead our aqida? Wow. They really go to that extent? Impressive.

World's Best Selling Toy.

Rubiks Cube. The world's best selling toy. As of January 2009, 350 million cubes have been sold worldwide. It is a 3x3x3 cube with 6 sides of 6 colours usually red, white, blue, yellow, green and orange (but now, there are tons of designs, cartoons, etc). It was invented on 1974 by Ernő Rubik but not until 1980, when the cube was licesed by Rubiks, and later, won he German Game of the Year special award for Best Puzzle that year also. This year, 3x3x3 Rubiks Cube (previously known as Magic Cube) will be celebrating its 30th anniversary.

There are few ways to solve the 3x3x3 Rubiks Cube. First, involves solving the Cube layer by layer, in which one layer (designated the top) is solved first, followed by the middle layer, and then the final and bottom layer. There is also ''centre first'' and etc. In 2008, Tomas Rokicki hypothesised that the number of moves needed to solve the Rubik's Cube, given an ideal algorithm, is 22 moves! The most common way to solve Rubiks Cube was developed by Jessica Fridrich, which is similar to layer-to layer method but include the use of algorithms (which I used myself to solve Rubiks cube, as this is probably the easiest method of it. haha.)

The current world record is held by Erik Akkersdjik, 7:08 seconds at the Czech Open 2008.
Tons of variations of Rubiks Cube were developed such as 7x7x7, 2x2x2, 5x5x5 etc. Rubiks cube can also be simulated using software to create impractical ones, such as 1000x1000x1000, 10000000x10000000x10000000, haha.

New blog? What it is for?

As i wrote on the header, 'For educational purposes.'

This particular blog is for my assignment on MGT300. I guess , since I already have 1 blog, its no big deal of having another one. But then, if Im too focus on this blog, Ill forget about my first blog! :D <-- this is a link to my blog. :) .. Ill try not to.. haha..
